Walking in Wisdom: Lessons from Proverbs

Wisdom is one of the greatest treasures we can seek in life. The book of Proverbs repeatedly encourages us to pursue wisdom and trust in the Lord. In our Sunday evening services, we've been reflecting on verses about wisdom and understanding.

Proverbs 3:5-7 reminds us:

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

These verses call us to trust fully in God rather than rely solely on our reasoning. When we acknowledge Him in all we do, He guides our steps and keeps us on the right path.

The Priority of Wisdom

Proverbs 4:7 emphasizes the importance of wisdom in our lives:

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Scripture tells us that wisdom is the principal thing, meaning it should be a priority in our lives. However, gaining wisdom is not a passive process. God calls us to seek diligently, knowing Godly wisdom goes beyond human knowledge. It's the ability to apply truth to our daily lives in a way that honors the Lord.

How to Walk in Wisdom Every Day:

God has promised to guide those who trust in Him. Every day, we should:

  • Trust in God's direction rather than our limited understanding.

  • Acknowledge Him in our big and small decisions through prayer and seeking His will.

  • Remain humble, recognizing that our wisdom is nothing compared to God's infinite knowledge.

Join us at Willow Park Baptist Church on Sunday evenings as we dive deeper into Proverbs and grow together!
